Halloween is in the air!!!!

Ahhhhh! Our moving blues have been vanquished!
Mister and I took some much needed time for ourselves this weekend and recharged our batteries. Doesn't mean that all the problems have vanished - just means that we're back in a happy and healthy state emotionally. We were able to really enjoy the weekend. Can't let all those tiny little things bring you down!!!

So even though we were both nursing slight colds, we ventured out to a pumpkin patch where we paid only $0.20/lb for our pumpkins (how awesome is that??? I can't say it enough - I love Kentucky!!!) and picked up some lovely fresh apples for our mandatory Halloween caramel apples. After that we pretty much shut ourselves in to watch scary movies and eat disgusting amounts of treats!!!

Friday night treated us to a beautiful sunset.

Apples and pumpkins at Evans Orchards in Georgetown, Ky.

Mister insisted I picked pumpkins that were solid through and through! I swear they sounded hollow when I thumped them!

We picked Arkansas Black and Honeycrisp Apples to use for our caramel apples - and they were delicious!

Obligatory scary movies

Finally got around to using my pumpkin flavored marshmallows - I can't reccomend them enough! They're divine in hot chocolate! Tommorow I'm going to try a Pumpkin Spice Rice Krispie Treat out...

and of course I worked on some more candy corns that have been promised to family and friends.
I can't believe tommorow is Halloween already! Even though I've been absent from posting, I've enjoyed reading all your Halloween posts immensely, and I'll be sad to see them go.

Hope you all had a safe and wonderful weekend!!!!

'til next time...

Are you there, World? It's me...Colleen

Wow.
So we moved.

There's that.

And the billions upon billions of things that came along with that.

****sigh***

You may want to just skip this post. It's going to be a lot of complaining. And there's no pictures. I'm just too tired. Not that anyone is really worried about that...you all know I'm going to inundate you with photos soon enough. :)

I'm just tired. And in a funk. A tired, funky, funky funk. Can't seem to get into a daily groove for the life of me. I'm blaming it on being in a new house. All the stress that the cosmos have suddenly dumped on us isn't really helping either. Everything always seems to happen at once. We make a move (which just drains the finances) and the work in our area dries up at the same time. Some work would be nice, Universe. If you could just throw some work our way, we'd have nothing to complain about. The no work thing....is kinda putting a damper on this beautiful time of year for us. See we need the work in order to earn that All Mighty dollar.... Doesn't matter who you are - your little world stops pretty suddenly when that All Mighty dollar is threatened.

I'm just so tired of this economy throwing us curve balls. Every single time we are back on our feet, with light hearts, smiles on our faces...plans of FINALLY starting a family....something happens. Something always happens. Whatever that something is knocks us down again, and scares us enough to wait a little longer to start that family that we both want so bad. It just feels like the time is never going to be right. Ever. No matter how hard we work for it, how right we try to go about everything, or how much we want it. And we're not spring chicks anymore - we're working with a window of time here.

On a brighter note!!!!!

Dogs. Love. New. House.

Really - they love it. They've been playing non-stop for the last two weeks. They run around chasing each other and playing tug of war with branches. Fletch has taken up a very disturbing, and very emphatic courting of Crystal (which of course means he's been humping her non-stop....just gross), this of course means Mobee then has to try to imitate him (hilarious since he's only a foot off the ground). Needless to say the nerds have been keeping the smiles in our house plentiful, despite all the mean reds that have been floating around. And trust me, there have been a lot of mean, mean reds up in this bitch.

I'm also rather partial to our new house. It was a horror story to move into (another day, another post) which is why I've been away from the blog for so long (has it really been three weeks???). Now that we've got it in order though, I feel that I can breathe easier here. There are a few things that will take some getting used to. Such as the fact that we are out in the country now and the spiders are HUGE. Or the fact that we have three 90-gallon trash cans that we have filled each week and still haven't even made a dent in the leaves laying about our yard. I'm also having to learn how to cook on an electric stove...I swear I've burnt a portion of each meal I've made over the last two weeks. Just burned the crap out of it. To a crisp. I could elaborate, but you get the picture.

Ahhhhh, just look at all the fun stories you guys get to look forward to! Me whining and complaining in all my glory! You lucky, lucky ducks! :D

'til next time...
