Flea Markets and Rat Rods

Saturday was warm, breezy and beautiful, Mister and I decided to drive around and see what was up with our peeps at the flea market and car show. We drank waaaaay too much Starbuck's tea (really, it's disgusting the amount of money we give these people), I got my hair did, we bought some bad-ass fireworks (the kind that shoot up in the air bad-ass cause evidentally we're more patriotic out here which means we get bigger fireworks), chatted with some old guys about thier rat rods, and I found a lost, lonely, little mustasche in the parking lot.

Here are some random pics of our day...

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Frozen Yogurt Therapy

I was feeling a bit antsy on Friday so Mister drove me into Lexington for some frozen yogurts at naticakes. This little place is located by the campus of UK and sits across the street from Hugh Jass Burgers.

The decor was so refreshing! Shabby chic isn't exactly prominent in decor in this neck fo the woods.

They said it, so I did it...

and came up with this delicious mess! A mix of choclate and vanilla yogurt, topped with strawberries, brownie bits, crumbled Oreo cookies and hot fudge sauce. You know you totally want to run out and get some right now...  :)

As you can see from the totally content smile on my face, I enjoyed it immensely. (Mister loves to take shots up my nose for some reason)

When we lived in California, we used to go to a little shop in Chino Hills called Joghurt... I miss that place.  I miss being able to frequent frozen yogurt shops in general. Lexington is the closest to us now which is approx 25 minutes away. Holy crap I have to drive a half hour to get frozen yogurt and sit in a movie theater with cup holders now.... For some reason I get a huge kick out of that!

Out my window...

We've had an abundance of wildlife the last couple of days, and more than our fair share of babies. Yesterday when I saw a Robin hopping around with a beakful of worms I paid particular attention...

Which lead me to this little guy! Oh baby Robin, you are too cute!

His little tail feathers haven't even grown in yet!
The momma robin would stash him in a little patch of weeds, or an inconspicuous branch, then go off to collect more worms. He was a good little Robin and he didn't wander off anywhere - why would you when you have some premium grade A worm coming your way courtesy of mom?

I also figured out that the ground cover all over my yard is
wild strawberries!

Sadly they have no flavor (yes I tried them), but do provide for a very pretty grass area.

I've had so many critters recently I'm afraid you're going to have to put up with more cute animal talk and photos....sorry guys.

My Favorite Kicks (for now...)

Do you ever buy something that you swear you'll wear all the time, and then it sits in the back of your closet for years? I used to do that all the time. However, since my (not so) recent unemployment I've had to get somewhat creative with my wardrobe. I hang on to items forEVER - no exaggeration, I have a pair of Old Navy pajama bottoms from about 10 years ago. So when I need to, I force myself to wear something I haven't before. Once I do, I usually love it. Like this pair of Diesel shoes I picked up about 5 years ago - can't remember where. Untill recently, they've sat unnoticed in my closet - I think I had only worn them 3 or 4 times. But now....

I am simply loving them. :)

I kinda wish I had bought them in black also...

It's hot outside, but being able to wear skirts and shoes like these, instead of long johns and Emus is worth it...for now...

100!

I just realized that I hit my 100th post on Wednesday! Hooray for me!

Who knew I could contribute so freaking MUCH to the internet???? LOL!

I needed a carnival

The Capital Expo is this weekend. A little carnival that occurs yearly on the river in downtown Frankfort.
The weather was nice so Mister and I ventured out to take a little stroll through it and to grab a funnel cake.

Mostly to grab a funnel cake.

It was warm and gooey and delicious just
in case you were wondering. :)

The fried food looked delicious! Fried Twinkies, Fried Oreos, Fried Snickers Bars, Fried Cheesecake... But oddly enough, no chocolate dipped bacon - which seemed to be a huge hit at the fairs in California when when we left.

Now I'm going to have an excuse to make some myself! :)

We're planning on going back tommorow evening to watch the fireworks display over the river and see a friends band play.
We'll see if Mister is in the mood to go after he takes his final.
Fingers crossed :)

They remind me of Neopolitan ice cream

I spent my evening making lots of little pom poms for future use.

Something about them is addicting! Love making them! However, I think I'm going to go ahead and drop the couple of dollars on a pom pom maker. Spacing them by hand can be somewhat bothersome. I have some projects planned that involve these little guys - can't wait to share them with you once they're finished!

I've Got One!!!

Hell yes! I've fnally got a reason to wear wellies! I've always loved them, but never had a need for them. Well, the South has presented the opportunity. With the clashing of Spring and Summer comes ample opportunity for rain and mud! Thunderstorms abound!

I was stomping around the farm last weekend in my wonderful MIL's pair while we started thier garden. Todd snapped a picture of me while we were waiting around for some more stakes to arrive.

Sandy, above-mentioned wonderful MIL, saw that I was having so much fun stomping through the mud that she went out and surprised me with a pair of them! Here are my new pair of Wellies!!!!

I promptly put them on and ran around in the mud some more. Thier maiden voyage and all...  Mister laughed at me because I insisted on rinsing them off with the hose once we were done working. I couldn't help it, I just love them!

Thank you Sandy!

In my sudden Wellie craze I couldn't resist sharing these Wellies by
Evercreatures

and this adorable picture of a little piglet in Wellies.

Pig in wellies

 Too cute to pass up!

Do any of you have a secret love of Wellies?
