Last night was the most intriguing night I've had in quite a while. Mister's parents took us to an Amish run auction called Dinky's. We stayed for several hours, mostly people watching cause to be honest we didn't even bid on one thing (although Verno, Mister's dad, had quite the time and came home with a giant haul). To see so many Amish gathered together in one place was, to say the least, amazing. I would say there were at least 50 buggies parked about the lot.
And of course, there were many buggies passed on the road...
The auction sold everything from livestock to yard sale items. My personal favorite find of the day
Several Gremlin books complete with immaculate read-a-long records. Unfortunatley to obtain this item, I would've also had to bid on the entire box of Superman comics in which it was mixed.
We had a great time, and plan on making another visit sometime soon - they have the aution every Friday night.
Sorry for the weak ending to this post - it could've been much more interesting, I know. The Amish people are fascinating, and after we left the auction I spent hours on-line reading about them. But I am so tired right now I can barely keep my eyes open.
Maybe a small video of the auctioneers in the livestock tent will say a little more, until then my dear friends... ♥
I think whenever we visit this is a definite stop. Jons applying for a new job and if he gets it it would be definite plane trips to indiana and probably extra vacation time.
