May the Fuzzy Little Guys RIP

I wasn't able to make my peach masterpiece for a few days, as my little brother made off with my entire basket of peaches. Had to wait for our tree to produce another basketful, which didn't take long!

My masterpiece turned out to be more of just a piece, but hey, roll with it. I made peach cobbler, from scratch... There were enough peaches to make a large cobbler and a smaller cobbler. I'd leave you with the recipe that I used, but I pretty much winged it the entire time...

I had never tried to blanch peaches before - it works like an absolute charm! The skins pull off just like little sleeves...
I used orange juice, sugar, lime juice, cinnamon, nutmeg and cornstarch when cooking the peaches down. Then made up a crust that consisted of flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and shortening. This gave me a dense, yet fluffy crust.

The peaches, although delicious, were a bit tart...so the cobbler in my opinion could have used a bit more sugar.

Here is my final result. It's a bit on the sloppy side, but I wasn't really aiming for aesthetics this time around...just not killing anyone with food poisoning.

Everyone seemed to really like it though...and no major illnesses yet. ;P

'til next time...
