Josh Ritter is Coming to Town!!!

I know that posting four videos is probably overkill....but I simply cannot contain my excitment and must, must, must share it - or I might explode. I just found out that Josh Ritter is having a free in store show at the teeny, tiny Fingerprint Records in Long Beach on April 16th. Guess who's gonna be in line at dawn???? Not really, but I am definitely going to be there.

I love this man's lyrics, and his guitar just sort of delivers a heart wrenching truth with a wink and a smile.... I just can't seem to listen to him without having a great time.

Now if the next two weeks would just pass in the blink of an eye... I'll definitely post pics.

'til next time......

It Was a Good Day

These are so few and far between recently.... It's nice to be able to say that I had a really good day yesterday. We ran the cupcake circuit in down town Pasadena, first visiting Violet's Cupcakes, where we enjoyed Strawberry Shortcake and Elvis (banana cupcake with peanut butter frosting) cupcakes, then down the street to My Sweet Cupcake, where we indulged in Oreo and Marbled cupcakes...delish.

After we splurged on way too many cupcakes, I was treated to an extraordinary BBQ lunch at the Barn Burner, which I have driven by dozens of times, but never had the chance to stop and eat at. Let me tell you, worth the wait. Not only is the decor adorable, the BBQ was exquisite! I ate way too much. I swear I'm turning into a big fatty!

I got to finish up the day by visiting my big baby, Cujo. I haven't seen him much recently, and his health is failing him.... But we spent some time together.

All in all, it was a great day....and I think, just maybe, that I am fixin' to have some more of them....

'til I manage again....

I've Got Some New Hooters!

I did it! I made an item of clothing. Probably one of the easiest items I could have chosen.....but they withstood the washer, so I'm proud. These flannel pajama pants were made using a pattern... I was actually crazy enough to think (for just a moment, mind you) that I might be able to pull off making them without a pattern.... Ah, I chuckle to myself. Even with the pattern I was scratching my head. Those things are very hard to read. Left me feeling kind of like an idiot... :)

Here is a photo of me wearing the finished product. They came out HUGE! I made them using the template for a small, but I swear you could fit two of me in there! And of course, the day that I finished them turned out to be a sunny 89 degrees.....so they'll most likely be going back in the drawer until the weather cools off. No one ever said I had good timing....

Close up of the fabric pattern. I love, love, love owls. Aren't they just the cutest? As difficult as these were to make, I know I'll make more...just to torture myself...

til next time....

Ode to Olivia

My little brother and sister (twins) celebrated their 22nd birthday on March 1st. I decided to make a doll for my little sister Shaundra. This was partly due to the fact that I was broke, but also because I knew she would appreciate the work I put into it. So, Olivia was born.

Let me tell you, it was a long, arduous labor.... Natural childbirth, you might say. In other words, she was kind of a pain in the ass! But it was well worth it. I pulled this idea from Junker Jane's showing in Stuffed magazine.

Made up my own pattern again. I used a really plush, hot pink sherpa fleece and black felt for the majority of the doll. I love the button I found to use as her eye....I had quite a time figuring out how to put the hair together. Once I had figured it out, the materials were too thick for my machine, so a very large part of her is hand stitched.

Shaun seemed to really like it though - at least I hope she did. This doll really does remind me of the Squidbillies..... I do plan on making more of these little guys...they just make you smile.

Thought I would throw a picture of my cat in here. Marley tries to be as much help as he can during my little projects. And by help, I mean he usually sits or sleeps on whatever item I'm making.

Thanks Marley!
So here is to my baby brother and sister - Happy 22nd Birthday (belated). And here's to hoping this camera I'm using now holds out on me.....

'til I manage again.....
